Being a desk jockey for many years, I know the stiffness you can get from sitting and staring at a computer all day. Remember to take a few moments of your day to give yourself some relief! Here are a few tips:
1. Stretch your hands!
Clench both fists and then stretch out your fingers a few times to get circulation going. Next make circles in the air in one direction for a few seconds then other direction!
2. Let’s do the twist!
Take a deep breath and exhale a few times to prepare your body. Next you will twist in your chair, grab your arm rest, and gently twist your upper body. Let your eyes control the twist by looking as far as you can. Be sure to breathe deeply as you twist! Carefully release the twist and repeat on the other side.
3. Stretch your arms!
Stretch your right arm in front of you and with the left hand hook it under the right elbow. Now gently pull your right arm across your chest and hold for about 10 seconds. Now repeat on the other side and don’t forget to breathe!
4. Stand up!
Honestly, there were days that I’m pretty sure that I didn't move for HOURS when working at the call center. When I would get up my back would scream at me! By simply standing up you can provide your body a good timeout of the chair and get circulation back into the lower part of your body! While you're up....stretch!!!
